• According to Bloomberg, which cited former employees, Wolfe Herd’s past stint at Bumble was marred with cultural issues: The 2020 Bloomberg article cited eight former employees who said Bumble’s internal culture is the opposite of the values of kindness and respect it preaches. Some employees could be left out during events. Others could be forced to do meagre roles that didn’t fit into their job descriptions. It seems she also led a culture of fear as employees were too afraid to speak about they company even after leaving as they felt Herd could retaliate against them. Former employees interviewed by Business Insider also described the culture as cliquey.

The employees said sometimes she could announced new features to the press without full awareness of the product team→ It may not have been her fault given that engineering and product design was handled by Andreev's team in London while Wolfe Herd was in charge of marketing and Bumble’s culture. She also came up with the product (which ended up being successfully), hence we can argue that she was part of the product team and knew what was best.
  • In July 2025, she scolded employees that they “need to grow up” after employees reacted to the July layoff of 240 employees and her announcement that she was moving the “center of gravity” of the company to the U.S. from London with a series of thumbs-down emojis in a private chat: https://www.inc.com/kit-eaton/bumbles-ceo-just-gave-a-masterclass-in-how-not-to-talk-to-staff-about-layoffs/91209510?utm_source=chatgpt.com
